Design Thinking

6 steps to the finished product

The Design Thinking approach is primarily about solving problems to develop new products—products that convince the user and take market requirements into account. Development always takes place in six defined steps: Understand, Observe, Define Point of View, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.

The understanding and observation phases are particularly important for a successful process; only by correctly defining the problem and viewing it from the customer’s perspective is it possible to develop a product that solves existing problems and addresses the actual needs of users.

Creating prototypes requires creativity and a willingness to repeatedly discard and refine ideas. These prototypes are rigorously tested and improved until the customer is satisfied and the product can be approved.
