For the eleventh time and in five categories, the IDA – International Design Award was presented in Los Angeles this year. Three awards went to designer Emell Gök Che and her studio Artemell in Berlin, who were responsible for the redesign of ARCADEON in Hagen – together with Jörg and Claudia Bachmann, Managing Director and Marketing/Sales Director of ARCADEON: The “House of Science and Continuing Education” received the “IDA 2017 Honorable Mention” in the “Professional Interior Design” category for the restaurant KARLs and for the public men’s restroom facilities. In addition, KARLs received a separate award for best renovation.
One of the leading design awards in the USA
Visionary designers, high-caliber designs, and innovative products from around the world compete for the coveted awards, which are presented in five categories: architecture, interior design, graphic design, product design, and fashion design. The jury evaluates submissions not only based on current high design standards and trends, but also seeks visionary designers who dare to make the creative leap and serve as signposts for the future.
For example, designer Richard Francis-Jones received the IDA Award as “Architecture of the Year” for the Australian Bunjil Palace, and the company Mesura took first place in the “Interior Design of the Year” category with the design of the Cottagehouse Can Llimona in Alella, Spain. The prestigious award has become one of the leading design awards in the USA in recent years.
ARCADEON reinvents itself
Just last year, the “reinvention” of the Hagen conference and seminar center was completed after four years under the motto “ARCADEON recreated.” ARCADEON has embarked on new design paths for the entire interior design. All ideas originated from Jörg and Claudia Bachmann in close collaboration with designer Emell Gök Che. Together they developed a holistic concept that aims to evoke emotions and appeal to all senses through a unique combination of music, scent, light, and design. Lighting and wall installations, seating furniture, and ceiling patterns were exclusively designed for the hotel by Emell Gök Che, which harmonize perfectly with each other in their design language and strong colors – especially green in many shades.
