Lakes and watersports in and around HagenWith a large number of lakes, the region provides a broadly diversified offer to holidaymakers and/or water sportsmen. The Glörtalsperre opened in 1906 offers walkers picturesque surroundings and a 1-hour footpath. Its special charm provides the possibility to bathe there in summer and ice skate on it winter. Dogs are also welcome on their own special section of dog beach.If you would rather enjoy the water from the boat, the Hengsteysee is the perfect place. Offering a yacht school for yachtsmen, pedal- and oar boat rental company and the passenger ship "Freiherr vom Stein" everyone will find something to suit them. If you would like to combine walking with culture, visit the next reservoir, the Harkortsee in the City Wetter. Here you can comfortably go for a walk along the path beside the water, ride around the reservoir on inline skates and/or make an excursion into the old city centre to enjoy the picturesque view over the lake from the castle in Wetter.
